Nick Gulotta

Florida has long been a haven for retirees, and during the 1970s and 80s, my youth was spent among the Greatest Generation, drenched in history and patriotism. The stories shared by my elders were filled with lessons of resilience, sacrifice, and triumph, fueling my own thirst for knowledge and connection to the past. As I navigated my formative years in this sun-soaked paradise, the Florida sun's warmth reflected the bonds formed with those who left an indelible mark on my life and instilled a deep appreciation for the rich tapestry of history surrounding me.

Growing up on the St Lucie River and witnessing its demise and the diminishment of South Florida's natural beauty has made me realize the importance of speaking up. I cannot sit idly by while more ignorance and greed have their sights on any unbuilt land left in Florida. Experience has taught me that we can make a difference, and a tiny spark can influence a wave of enthusiasm. There is a responsible way to grow and a better way to build. If we put our priorities in order, we will figure it out and do it right. We must hold our elected officials accountable and diligently safeguard the environment.

The mission

The ongoing destruction of Florida's natural landscapes is a critical issue that demands our immediate attention. From the degradation of coastal ecosystems to the pollution of freshwater resources, we are sacrificing the health of our environment for economic gains. This misguided pursuit threatens the unique biodiversity that Florida is known for. We must raise awareness about the devastating impacts of our actions and advocate for sustainable practices that prioritize the preservation of our beautiful ecosystems. We must protect Florida's rich heritage and ensure that economic development no longer comes at the expense of our environment.

The vision

We must shift the paradigm from focusing on relentless growth and development towards a commitment to conservation and rehabilitation. Emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the preservation of our natural surroundings and recognizing that the health of our ecosystems is vital for our survival. Embracing this mindset will protect our biodiversity and enhance our quality of life, ensuring that future generations inherit a thriving and vibrant Florida.
